Lladró: A Brief History

Lladró is a world-renowned Spanish brand that has been creating stunning porcelain figurines and sculptures for over half a century. Founded by three brothers, Juan, Jose, and Vicente Lladró in 1953 in the town of Almàssera, near Valencia, Spain, the company quickly gained global recognition for its unique designs and high-quality craftsmanship.

The Lladró brothers initially focused on creating functional ceramic items like plates and vases. Still, they soon began experimenting with porcelain figurines, which would become their signature product. Their designs were heavily influenced by traditional Spanish pottery styles from Valencia, as well as the work of European porcelain manufacturers like Meissen and Sèvres.

The early success of Lladró was due in part to the brothers' commitment to innovation and experimentation. They developed new techniques for shaping and firing porcelain, as well as unique glazes and finishes that gave their pieces a distinctive look and feel.

Lladró figurines quickly became collector's items, with fans around the world eager to add these exquisite pieces to their collections. In the 1970s, Lladró expanded its range of products to include larger sculptures, chandeliers, and other home decor items.

Today, Lladró continues to innovate and produce stunning porcelain art, with a team of skilled artists and craftspeople dedicated to creating unique and beautiful pieces. With over 60 years of history and a reputation for excellence, Lladró remains a beloved and respected brand in the world of porcelain art.
